POSITION SUMMARY:

Purchase major equipment and services necessary to support the clinical objectives and operations of St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Issue Purchase Orders and Contracts to approved vendors to obtain materials, equipment and services at the lowest evaluated cost consistent in quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need in accordance with company policies, procedures, government laws and regulations and business strategies to support our patient care and cost reduction efforts.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain management/Business management and 5-7 years of purchasing experience preferred. Direct experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education requirements. Experience to include contract negotiations, information systems controls and supply expense management concepts with demonstrated understanding of business/contract law, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and associated local, state and federal regulations. Experience in health care industry considered essential. Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives, balance multiple priorities, communicate effectively and establish and maintain supplier relationships.

Participates in the orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Microsoft Office proficiency and Materials Management Software

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Office Exposure: Exposure Class II. Normal working conditions. Limited exposure to situations which could cause serious illness or injury. Infrequent exposure to mildly unpleasant physical conditions. Little or no exposure to hazards that could cause injury or illness.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light work – standing, walking, sitting and lifting.
