CPR certification required
Under the direction of the Surgical Services Manager receives, decontaminates, processes, assembles and maintains surgical instrumentation for the health System. After consulting OR schedule and requisitions, assembles case set-ups for the Operating Room. Schedules surgical procedures with physicians, physician's offices and other hospital staff utilizing hospital computer scheduling system. Maintains databases and assists, supervises and educates other users on scheduling system. Ensures all necessary equipment is available for surgical cases. Orders and restocks supplies for all perioperative areas. Performa a variety of support activities for the surgical team promoting an efficient team schedule. Transports patients to and from Surgery Department. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
High school diploma required. Previous hospital experience preferred. On the job training provided. Previous computer experience preferred. Certification CSPDT or Equivalent during the second year of employment in department. Bi-annual BLS certification required.
Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Knowledge of aseptic technique and standard precautions required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all levels within the organization and community. Some Computer literacy.
