Job Details:
  • This position will also serve as PCP as well as unit secretary.  20 hours per week: 4:30-9p (4-8:30p) Monday through Friday with occasional flexibility for weekend coverage. 
     

    Coordinates department activity and performs receptionist and clerical duties for patient care area(s).  Utilizes various software programs to facilitate efficient workflow. 

     

     

    JOB DUTIES

    1.       Actively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values.

    2.       Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information.

    3.       Coordinates communication pertinent to patient care among physicians, associates, patients, families, and visitors in a timely manner.

    4.       Coordinates patient care activities for ordered procedures using the appropriate information system. Uses appropriate information systems & software to assist with patient activities such as scheduling, meals, etc.

    5.       Maintains an inventory of supplies in accordance with established levels, as well as special orders, and charges appropriately. Utilizes appropriate and recognized ordering systems.

    6.       Maintains current census through timely input of discharges, transfers and/or checkouts. Initiates printing and updates routine reports such as the daily census, schedules, communion list, etc.

    7.       Assists in maintaining the electronic patient chart for current use including filing reports. Appropriately prepares patient records for document imaging when needed.

    8.       May be cross-trained to patient care provider or specialty technician.

    9.       Transcribes written physician orders to the automated information system and initiates communication necessary to implement the orders including faxes to pharmacy.

    10.   Responsible for coordinating and monitoring electronic devices which may include laptop charging/storage, logging calls to Resolution Center, and maintaining check in & out processes.

    11.   Greets and assists physicians with electronic medical record access including the scanning of documents.

    12.   Duties and responsibilities include accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients, including those that may produce patient charges.  If designated as a "Revenue Lead", additional responsibilities will include revenue reconciliation and charge-error correction as specified by departmental process and hospital policy.

    13.   Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

     

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

    Education:  The level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through the completion of high school level courses.  Ability to read, write, and spell in English and perform simple arithmetic calculations

    Licensure:  None.

    Experience:  None required.

    Other Job Requirements: 

    Knowledge of medical terminology and computers preferred.

    Assigned hours within your shift, starting time, or days of work are subject to change based on departmental and/or organizational needs.
