  • SUMMARY

    Participates in developing and leading the strategy to integrate Process Excellence thinking into the culture of the organization.  Coach/train individuals and teams throughout the organization including front line associates, physicians, and middle management in problem identification and resolution utilizing Process Excellence (Px) principles and tools while achieving sustainable positive results for the organization.  Coaches teams through the challenges of significant organizational change to successful outcomes.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

    Minimum:              Thorough knowledge of operations as usually obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial engineering, Business, or Health Administration or other health-care related fireld or equivalent combination of experience and education.

    Related Experience

    Minimum:              Two years  experience in a full time improvement-based role with proven outcomes.  Experienced in concepts/tools of the Toyota Production System including some understanding of TPS culture, philosophy, principles and tools.  Must possess a strong understanding of lean and how it applies in health care.  Demonstrated experience coaching managers/professionals to successful outcomes.

    Preferred:               Four years operational experience in a full time TPS/Lean improvement-based role with proven outcomes.  Two years experience in a formal operations leadership/management role.  Project management experience.

    §         Demonstrated organizational, work management, and group process skills, and has ability to take initiative to identify and propose new tasks and procedures.

    §         Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a diverse group of staff, public and professionals.

    §         Highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with professional presentation and the ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations.

    §         Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer-service orientation

    §         Demonstrated project management skills, with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.

    §         Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.

    Computer Competency

    Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows based computer system, including a basic understanding of MS office, email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.  Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Physical/Mental

    Minimum:              Occasional sitting / standing for long periods of time.  Occasional lifting or pushing of objects weighing not greater than 20 pounds.  Can effectively maintain the hours and workload expected in support of busy healthcare administrators.  Ability to travel to off-site locations as necessary

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    §         Coaches others to assess key initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.

    §         Participates in developing Px curriculum and teaches others.  Topics may include Lean, Six Sigma, and change leadership.

    §         Participates in developing and implementing Px strategy.

    §         Delivers some types of training

    §         Serves as a technical knowledge resource on Px tools to both leadership and associates.

    §         Connects Px work to organizational strategic plan, mission, vision, values and guiding behaviors.

    §         Responsible for identifying and articulating process improvement opportunities.  Provides on-going communication, consulting and analytical support to leaders, managers and associates relative to new opportunities and other issues. 

    §         Facilitates teams pursuing process improvements.  Motivates and coaches team toward desired outcomes.

    §         Teaches others to see problems through “lean” eyes and to solve those problems using consistent problem-solving format that results in sustainable change.

    §         Acts as change agent within the organization in pursuit of a Process Excellence culture.

    §         Understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, values, and guiding behaviors.

    §         Performs other duties as assigned.
