    Job Summary:

    Performs receptionist and secretarial duties for the Physician Office.  This individual will be the front office "face" that meets the public and schedules patient visits.  Will schedule, interview and complete patient intake processes to ensure patient appointments are prepared and completed in a timely and caring way.  Will provide continued support to assist patient ensure that all pre-operative documents and procedures are complete and available for physician, prior to appointment. Will be cross-trained with other healthcare team members to assist in any functions that are not clinical to provide coverage and support ie. prepare rooms, transport patients, transport charts, etc.  Must be team orientated, customer focused with the ability to assist the healthcare team to ensure an optimal positive patient experience. May requisitioning supplies, equipment and services as directed. Will perform minor billing and verification of insurance.  Will transcribe physician notes and other related documents.

     

     

                                               MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION REQUIRED:

    High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one-year (within the last three years) clerical experience in a physician/medical office required. Computer literacy and basic typing skills required – must type 40-50 WPM with 90% accuracy.  Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, HIPAA, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. 

     

                                                             INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

    Must be able to use positive interpersonal skills with all age populations, with an emphasis on achieving a positive patient experience through compassion, patience, understanding and commitment through direct and telephone conversations with patients.   Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to prioritize work and effectively represent the clinic to the public.  Able to articulate and demonstrate commitment to the Philosophy, Values and Mission of Mercy Hospital Cadillac.  Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
