The Rehab Admissions Coordinator/ PPS Coordinator collaborates with physicians, payers, health care team members, and patients/families to follow up on ARU referrals and coordinates admissions to the Acute Rehab Unit, performs insurance pre-certifications and re-certifications and completes IRF-PAI as necessary. The Rehab Admissions Coordinator/ PPS Coordinator, plans, monitors, and evaluates the admission and IRF-PAI of all Acute Rehab Patients. He/She is responsible for coordinating the delivery of resources for effective, efficient, and appropriate admissions and patient care during an entire episode of illness. The Rehab Admission Coordinator promotes the Acute Rehab Unit and rehabilitation services in general by developing and maintaining effective working relationships with referring physicians/sites. Associate's degree in a clinical field required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A range of 2 - 5 years' work experience based on level of education. Customer-focused interpersonal skills in order to interact in an effective manner with physicians, health team members, referral hospitals employees, patients and families. Leadership qualities including time management, verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, problem solving, decision-making, priority setting, work delegation and work organization. Able to respond to a highly variable workload. Knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agency standards and regulations relative to utilization management. Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations affecting the utilization review program and payment as well as current knowledge of third party payer programs, requirements and criteria utilized. Excellent computer skills with specific ability to use Cerner and Allscripts program for referral management.
