  • Job Summary:

    Perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, critical delivery area, clean and soiled holding areas, family waiting room and other assigned areas of the hospital.

     

    Under the supervision and delegation of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse provides comfort and safety to patients.  Responsible and accountable for a variety of supportive tasks.  In doing so, assists with personal hygiene, feeds and ambulates patients following the plan of care.  Maintains patient’s rooms in a clean and orderly condition.

     

                                                    MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION REQUIRED:

    High school diploma or equivalent.  BCLS/CPR certification within three months of employment.  As a provider of basic care to patients, the expectation is that the employee is able to meet the special needs and behaviors of specific age groups for which they are caring.  The ages served within the job category are dependent on the unit.  Age specific competency requirements are further defined and/or evaluated by unit/department based standards.

     

    Ability to read, write and follow directions/instructions.  On-the-job training provided.

     

     

                                                          INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

    Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with staff, peers, patients, families and visitors.

    Able to articulate and demonstrate commitment to the Philosophy, Values and Mission of Mercy Hospital Cadillac.   Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. 

     

    Minimum Qualifications include the Following

    • Clerical, patient care or housekeeping experience preferred.
    • Working knowledge of at least one of the following: MS Word, Excel, Powerchart or Star Registration
    • Additional knowledge of two of the programs preferred.  Will train the right candidate.
    • Minimum typing skills = 40 wpm.  Typing test required.
    • Ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, be self-motivated and be team oriented

     Job summary includes, but not limited to,

     

    Unit Coordinator Duties - Construct charts, answer phones and other clerical duties as delegated by the Family Birth Center team.  Ability to handle multiple office equipment such as fax, copy equipment and multiple phone lines.

     

    Patient Care Assistant - Duties to include, but not limited to, providing comfort and safety to patients and visitors, vital signs, ambulation and bathing of patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

     

    Housekeeping - Duties include, but not limited to, performing a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offidces, hallways, critical delivery area, family waiting room and other assigned area of the hospital.  Operate mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums.  buff, strip, wax and polish floors.  Wet mop floors, halls, stairways and puboic areas.  Shampoo rugs and furniture.  Clean vents, fans and other equipment using vacuum machines.
