    • Job Summary
      • The Radiology Patient Care Assistant will be responsible for assisting in meeting patient needs for all age groups (neonates, infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric) in the areas of comfort, activities of daily living, transporting and safety needs according to established procedures and protocols. The Patient Care Assistant will communicate with team members or the Control Desk Coordinator in a timely manner about his/her observations of the patient’s transport, needs and problems. Maintains established departmental/hospital policies, procedures, objectives, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety, and infection control. Works as a member of the Radiology team. Accountability will be monitored through direct observation, performance improvement activities, transportation log, patient outcomes, and patient safety activities.
      • Demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication) in performance of role.
    • Qualifications Required
      • Education:
        • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions. High School diploma/GED required, or equivalent skills as demonstrated through testing
      • Licensure/Certification:
        • Certified Nursing Assistant or completion of Nursing Assistant enhancement program preferred. Certification/licensure/registration/enrollment in other allied health profession also desirable.
        • BCLS preferred. Must acquire certification within orientation period, and maintain.
      • Experience:
        • Additional direct patient care experience is also preferred, such as Nursing Assistant, Nursing Student, EMS, Transports, Dietetics Representative, Physical Therapy Aide, EKG Technician, etc.
        • Employees must have a minimum of 6 months recent experience in any of the above experience categories or be enrolled in a radiography program to be eligible for a PRN position status.
      • Knowledge, skills, abilities:
        • Basic knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of the patients served.
        • Basic knowledge of the diseases and health care needs of the patient population served.
        • Ability to think critically and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
        • High level of interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with patients, families and visitors, team members, physicians, and other hospital personnel with whom daily interactions must take place.Problem solving skills sufficient to allow effective problem/conflict resolution.Demonstrated traits of initiative and dependability required.
        • Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.
        • Skills & Abilities Checklist will be performed by a Radiology R.N.

    • Physical Demands
      • Ability to handle heavy materials or patients. Physical demands greater than moderate may require knowledge in the use of appropriate equipment. Frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and pulling requires use of proper body mechanics. Often it will be necessary for individual to stand for long periods and may spend most of the shift on feet. Requires close mental, visual, tactile, olfactory and auditory attention of patient care activities.
