The University of Maryland, Baltimore is recruiting for a Nurse Care Manager/Coordinator to function within the School of Nursing, Central Maryland location. The selected candidate will work with program leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of the Primary Care delivery model. The Care Manager serves in an expanded role to collaborate with primary care providers and patients to provide care based on a model that ensures the delivery of quality, efficient and cost-effective healthcare services. This position has overall responsibility to coordinate and lead the activities of an inter-professional team consisting of nurse care providers, social workers, outreach workers and medical assistant staff.
Ø Supervises, trains, assigns work to, and evaluates nurses.
Ø Coordinates the schedules of the nurses to ensure adequate staffing levels.
Ø Trains nurses in new procedures and/or changes in study protocol.
Ø Hires nurses or other staff as needed.
Ø Participates in grant and report writing as needed.
Ø Must currently be licensed as a registered nurse.
Ø 5 years of experience as a registered nurse. Positions within a research setting require at least 1 year of clinical research experience. Subject specialty necessary.
Ø May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation.
ü Knowledge of best practices in the field as well as all relevant federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and programs/policies for meeting compliance.
ü Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision.
ü Leadership, coaching, and teambuilding skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships.
ü Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
ü Ability to network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with key groups and individuals.
ü Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information.
ü Oral/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
ü Ability to schedule, train, supervise, assign work to, and evaluate staff.
