Purpose and Scope:

The incumbent is responsible for management of the hospital American College of Surgeons approved Cancer Registry. This includes a data base of 12,000 cases with over 3,000 follow-up cases and approximately 1000 new cases added each year. The Registrar serves as a focal point for most aspects of the cancer program including coordination of meetings, studies, and published materials. The incumbent functions independently; consulting the Director of Oncology Support Services on unusual administrative situations, and the chairman of the Cancer Committee regarding clinical concerns.

l. Position Requirements:

A. Education: This position requires extensive specialized knowledge of Cancer  Registry functions. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or eligible.

B. Experience: At least two (2) years registry experience. Knowledge of computer applications for registry use. Good human relations skills required due to patient contact in sensitive areas. Ability to interact well with physicians and other hospital personnel. Supervisory experience desirable.
