Purpose and Scope:
To maintain the safety of patients who are confused, at risk of falling, or are suicidal and deemed a danger to self or others. The person in this position functions under the direction of the registered nurse.
A. Education: High school graduate preferred.
B. Experience: Basic knowledge of care of patients.
C. Certification: BLS for Healthcare Providers.
Must be able to: move intermittently throughout the work day; cope with the mental and emotional stress associated with this position; function safely and in accordance with Hospital safety standards; push patients on stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds from one area to another; reach overhead and across a patient bed; assist patients in transferring from bed to chair; chair to bed, bed to stretcher, bed to standing; stoop and bend intermittently throughout the day. Assist patients in some activities of daily living as directed by the registered nurse.
