Purpose and Scope:
The Art therapist is skilled in the application of a variety of art modalities (drawing, painting, sculputure, and other media) for assessment and treatment. The Art Therapist will use the creative process of art making to assess, treat, improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the patient.
I. Position Requirements:
A. Education: Master of Art required within eighteen months of employment.
B. Experience: Two years of psychiatric clinical experience preferred. Two years of acute inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
C. Other Qualifications: Art Therapy Registry Board Certification (ATR-BC) must be obtained within eighteen months of employment. Crisis intervention training must be obtained within six months of employment. Computer experience highly preferred. BLS Certification is required.
