Purpose and Scope:

Verifies registration information and insurance coverage eligibility by using online tools and system applications. Secures and documents authorization for scheduled/non-scheduled inpatient and ambulatory surgical procedure and outpatient radiology procedures. Ensures that all encounter information is correct for claim processing; responsible for communications with the patient and or designated individual; physician's office, utilization management, business office and insurance companies to secure specific services and requests.

I. Position Requirements

A. Education: High School diploma or equivalent

B. Experience: Previous experience in the medical field preferred. Must have experience in the field of health insurance, understand the different requirements of multiple insurance plans, knowledge of medical terminology, knowledge of general radiology procedures and knowledge of HIPAA Regulations.

C. Great customer service skills; must be well organized; efficient and thorough; energetic; innovative with good communication skills. The individual must be able to work on a team; be a self-starter, applicable to changes and must be able to type. Have the availability to work overtime when necessary.

D. Application Experience: Siemens Sorian Financials, Huron, OR Manager and Centricity preferred.
