Purpose and Scope:

General secretarial duties to support the Nursing Division including: Answering main telephone numbers, screens, assists or forwards calls as necessary, performs all necessary filing, provides major copying support, which includes retrieval of patient's charts, provides support in faxing, e-mailing meeting notices, cross trains to the scheduling office to assist when high volume and vacations occur, cross trains to the data entry responsibilities to enter charges for the OR, PACU, and GI unit during times of vacation and high volume, prepares check requests for payment of expenses, opens/sorts incoming mail, provides major typing support for AVP, attends meetings as requested for the purpose of minute taking, meeting reminders, cancellations and notices for OR committee, prepares minutes for committee meetings, including dictation, prepares packets for Committee members on the OR Committee and Steering Committee,coordinates monthly room reservations and catering requests for the AVP's schedule planning, maintains AVP's calendar, assists with special projects as requested by AVP, complies with Personnel Policy on Guest Relations, placing a high degree of importance on friendliness, courtesy and concern for each patient, visitor, and fellow worker and always exhibits the highest degree of professional behavior.

I. Position Requirements:

A. Education: AA or College Degree

B. Experience: Knowledge of medical/legal terminology, computer knowledge of word processing and data entry programs, knowledge of letter and report formats, ability to prioritize work, able to adapt to change in routine, position requires ability to communicate verbally in person and over the telephone. Must have demonstrated organizational ability. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and close attention to detail. Must be able to type a minimum of 60 wpm with equal proofreading, grammar, and spelling skills
