Purpose and Scope:
The Nurse (RN) works closely with nurses, providers and support staff to provide patient care functions which may include but are not limited to: initial medical assessment of patients presenting at APC in person and via telephone during office hours; treatment; immunizations; discharge instructions; patient/parent education; and telephone follow-up. The Nurse may also participate in community education programs.
The Nurse provides leadership, positive role modeling and critical thinking skills and helps bridge all disciplines through effective communication, education and problem solving. The Nurse proactively supports quality and continuity of services for all patients.
The Nurse is guided by APC policies and procedures. The incumbent's actions are controlled to a great degree by the needs of the patients, families, co-workers, and providers. The Nurse attends staff meetings as required and participates in Quality Improvement meetings. The Nurse is an enthusiastic representative of APC in the community.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing required
- Current RN license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
