Purpose and Scope:
The Clinical Technician works under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN and is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team. The Clinical Technician assists the nurse in the care of patients from birth to geriatrics by providing specific technical care in addition to basic personal care, as well as maintaining the unit and the patient room in a neat and orderly fashion. The Clinical Technician complies with the rules of delegation and is responsible and accountable for tasks delegated by the nurse and cannot delegate to others what has been delegated to him/her.
I. Position Requirements
A. Education: High school graduate. Completion of the Clinical Technician Program at Northern Virginia Community College, or an equivalent program that provides the same competencies. All candidates to this role must demonstrate competency in the identified skills prior to the completion of their 90-day probationary period.
B. Experience: Experience as a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant or other similar role preferred. BLS Certification is required.
