  • Position Purpose:

    Under the direction of the Director of Organizational Development, this position utilizes health benefit claims and other data to research, plan, develop, implement, and administer benefit programs for employees. In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local Laws that pertain to employee benefits.   

    Nature and Scope:

    The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the administration of all benefit programs (medical/vision, dental, long-term disability, life, dependent life, supplemental life, retirement programs and flexible spending accounts) for Renown Health employees and retirees. Responsibilities include ensuring a market competitive benefits package which allows employee choice while managing cost.


    This position will research, plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of educational programs geared toward educating employees about the benefit programs offered by Renown Health.  The incumbent will work with various benefit vendors and administrators in building strong partnerships in order to provide the best service and products to Renown Health for the benefit of the employees.  The position will also be responsible for the annual compliance requirements pertinent to the Renown Health retirement savings plans as well as planning and preparation of the Employee Benefits Review Committee (EBRC) material.


    The incumbent is in a position of extremely high visibility to employees, management, outside agencies, and can be called upon to make written or oral presentations when necessary.  High standards of courtesy, performance, human relations skills, and personal appearance are required.


    The incumbent must keep abreast of legislative developments in the changing areas of insurance regulation such as Healthcare Reform, COBRA and Section 125 requirements.  The incumbent must strive to ensure that all insurance coverage procedures conform to federal and state regulatory guidelines.  Any procedural changes are recommended to the Director of Organizational Development.

    Minimum Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred


    Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Requires a bachelor's degree in business. Masters degree in business preferred.  Proven experience in a similar role for large employer may be substituted for  degree.


    Minimum three years of analytical experience in employee benefits or insurance.


    State of Nevada Insurance License preferred


    CEBS or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification preferred.

    Computer / Typing:

    Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel required.
