Under the direction of the RN, assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patient by performance of routine or delegated duties. Responsible for proper room set up, proficient in sterile technique, sets up sterile field with proper instrumentation related to the procedure, assists the surgeon during the case, counts sponges, sharps and instruments in accordance with the policy. Assists with room turnover in an efficient manner at the end of all cases. Must be able to take call and/or work weekends as needed.
Graduate of Surgical Tech or LPN Program. LPN with 6 Months experience or ORT experience of greater than 6 months preferred. Successful completion of ORT certification exam.
Successful completion of O.R.T. certification exam.
BLS is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
