Responsible for receiving incoming radio calls from EMS personnel,communicating receiving location within WHVMC or WBRMC. Responsible for triaging local EMS traffic to appropriate ER area.Operates radio base equipment, transmitting, receiving routine, emergency messages.Dispatches correct ground or air transportation to referral hospital/scene as requested.Communicatesavailability of Air Transportation.Monitors Navicare and ER Tracking Board with constant focus on bed availability and any "alerts" in effect. Monitors radio for current community events (i.e., MVA's, shootings) and shares information with appropriate personnel, including Trauma team, Security.Maintains written logs, files and computer information in prescribed manner.Performs clerical functions as assigned.Maintains constant communication with Administrative Supervisor,Transfer Coordinator.Updates Trauma Team, ED, Unit of ETA and condition of referral/scene patient.Arranges transport to other facilities when HVMC is unable to accommodate the patient referral.
High school diploma required.EMT Certification preferred.Two years experience in EMS or hospital setting.Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio and telephone operation preferred.
BLS is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
