Will provide direct patient care and supportive services to nursing unit under registered nurse supervision. Will complete education and training requirements. Routine Responsibilities: •Bedside patient care •Routine nursing assistant procedures •Stocking supplies •Maintaining equipment •Routine housekeeping duties as needed •Basic computer skills for documentation of care & procedures performed and for training and education needs •Transport patients as necessary •Completed training or certification in specialty role such as phlebotomy or orthopedic care procedures Routine Secretarial Responsibilities: •Basic Clerical Skills •Professional communication skills and able to communicate with different levels of caregivers •Proficient computer skills including hospital based systems •Medical terminology preferred •Proper phone etiquette including prompt and appropriate responses to patient call system and customer’s requests. •Able to multi task and handle stress situations appropriately. Advanced skills as specialty responsibilities (required for job) •Splinting/casting •Removing splints/casts •Venipuncture •Performing EKGs.
High School Diploma or GED Required. Specialty type training including but not limited to venipuncture, EKG's, splinting/casting, hospital experience required.
CPR is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
