The Patient Access Representative acts as a customer service and guest relations ambassador for the hospital, striving to create a positive first-impression and providing outstanding patient and customer care.
Performs all patient registration functions assuring complete and accurate information collection in a timely manner. Completes all required forms, consents and documents assuring compliance with the admitting policies and procedures. Respects the confidentiality of patients, department, and hospital information per HIPAA guidelines. Collects patient co-pays, coinsurance, deductibles and accurately records. Performs insurance verification using on-line eligibility programs. Performs switchboard activities and is back-up for Receptionist.
The ideal candidate will have proven customer service skills, the ability to type 40+ WPM, Hospital experience, and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Certification in Healthcare Access (CHAA) encouraged.
