Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Technical Operations Supervisor (TOS) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory. These duties include working with key stakeholders towards the best outcomes for patient care and the organization. Plans, directs and supervises the administrative and technical activities of the Department Leads, Medical Technologists, (MT’s), Technicians, (MLT’s), Laboratory Assistants (LA’s) Phlebotomists and Clerks. The TOS works closely with the Laboratory Manager, Leads and Medical Director to establish standardized technology and practices.
This individual is decisive, collaborative, open-minded, team-focused, wholly in support of the WGH vision and fully invested in the success of the staff and organization within our community. A qualified Technical Operations Supervisor will demonstrate the ability to support and further a patient-centered care culture and provide caring and dedicated leadership to their management team.
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science with completion of one year of internship in a clinical laboratory setting or Bachelor Degree in a related scientific field, with two years experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.
Experience Required: Minimum of five years clinical or hospital laboratory experience with emphasis on general laboratory sections and a minimum of one year in a lead, supervisory or management capacity is required.
