High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Education: High School degree or GED. Job requires reading, writing and math. Some computer knowledge useful. Dietary Managers course or degree in Nutrition desired for Worker II aide position.
Training and Experience: Ability to understand written and oral instructions. Good communication and telephone skills essential. Manual dexterity and motion coordination helpful. Requires on-the-job training. Pleasant disposition needed due to extensive patient contact.
Job Knowledge: Must be flexible and able to meet deadlines established. Must practice basic skills in sanitation and safety. Must have knowledge of basic food groups. Must be able to procure products from written recipes. Ability to locate and use resource materials in diet manuals necessary.
Cooks, bakes or prepares high quality foods based on recipes and department preparation standards that have appetizing taste and appearance, garnishing when appropriate. Cooks, bakes, prepares and/or serves using department infection control standards for proper temperature maintenance of raw and cooked foods. Portions and/or serves food items utilizing department portion control standards. Utilizes batch cooking techniques to assure adequate supply of items without leftover or shortages. Assemblies, serves and/or delivers food items to customers of all ages while meeting time schedule. Assures patients of all ages receive the correct diet prescription according to computer printout and in accordance with diet restrictions. Checks trays for accuracy and quality for patients of all ages. Utilize reference material and resources accurately to provide diet instruction and counseling as needed.
