The EMS Educator provides instruction to various groups of adult learners, facilitates learning in various age-related groups, writes evaluation instruments, and administers tests for outcomes, competency, and mastery of content.  The EMS Educator also coordinates pre-service and continuing education classes, coordinates and participates in clinical experiences and works, interacts and assists other EMS educators to function as a team to provide and assure ongoing quality of pre-service and in-service programs.


-Indiana certification/licensure as EMT Basis, EMT Paramedic (preferred), or Registered Nurse

-Bachelor's degree from an accredited college preferred; Associate's degree and a minimum of 2 years of equivalent clinical activity or a minimum of 5 years equivalent clinical activity will be considered instead of education requirement

-Valid Indiana Operator's license (necessary for frequent travel throughout the community to conduct hospital business); may need to provide own vehicle

-Indiana certification as a Primary Instructor

-Current CPR Instructor status

-Current ACLS Instructor status

-Current PALS Instructor status

-Current PHTLS Instructor status

-Current driver instructor status

-Candidates who do not hold a Paramedic certification must be able to enter the next available Paramedic course within the prescribed time

-Candidates who do not hold all of the required instructor certifications must be able to enter the next available appropriate instructor course(s), successfully complete the course(s) and become certified within the prescribed time.
