Desktop Engineer
Department: Information Technology
Schedule: Full-time
Shift: Monday-Friday
Hours: 830 to 5

The Desktop Engineer will be responsible for Building desktop / laptop images which includes automated software installs, hardware selection, configuration, and integration testing. Develops, analyzes, and maintains tools that support and automate processes for software releases.
Demonstrate complex troubleshooting methods and ability to provide Tier-3 level technical support resolving internal and customer technical issues. Deploy software and patches throughout enterprise environments following ITIL standard change management processes and procedures. Build and configure desktop / laptop images. Work with project teams to determine an appropriate build schedule and packaging process.

Job Specifications - Knowledge and Skills

Possess proven Customer Service skills, and Hardware Systems Break-Fix skills including peripherals in a networked environment. The successful DSE candidate should have experience creating PC images with diverse applications and applications with version dependencies with Java, IE etc. Responsible for performing technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems. Specific skills include the following:

Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware.
Microsoft Windows 7 and XP knowledge
Microsoft Active Directory including policies
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010 and 2007
Microsoft Outlook
Image creation using Microsoft SCCM 2007 (Systems Center Configuration Manager) or equivalent
Microsoft WSUS
Patch Management skills
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator administrators console
McAfee End Point Encryption or BitLocker
Software Packaging skills
Powershell or VBScript a plus)
Excellent communication and customer facing skills
Team player, Self motivated

• Full understanding of Active Directory, Exchange, and other server based software
• Full understanding of DNS, WINS, TCP/IP, and DHCP
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to quality service to end-users
Outstanding interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills

DESIRED SKILLS: Any of the following IT certifications are also desirable for this position: Microsoft MCP, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA A+ / Network+.

    Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent certifications and (5) or more years of IT technical experience in PC desktop support
